Dear R ( A mum’s letter to her 10 year old Son at Christmas)

Dear Son

,

It feels so surreal that you’re ten already. My darling 10 year old son, I remember how anxious I was when I had you in my womb. Your dad and I were anxious to meet you, all through the stress and pain, my joy was unwavering. I knew it that I will soon meet the love of my life. And it helped us love you more. I’m happy I have you in my life son, and although this is your tenth Christmas, I promise to make it better than the previous years.

I know that there are different things a ten year old will want to for Christmas, I promise to still get you some of these things. But this letter will serve as one of my special gifts to you. I will be keeping this for you after you read it. I know that in the future, perhaps when I’m gone, you will be able to look back and reminisce on this letter and other letters I have written to you with so much love. Don’t worry my son, I won’t leave you any time soon.

I promise to live long, active and agile. But you should always know this that I can’t always be with you. You’re going to grow old, strong and independent. You’re going to visit the world and see places. You are going to live away from me, but always remember that I’ll never be too occupied for you. I will always be available for you.

A mom, her Son and her daughter
My son, I want you to always remember that you’re designed for greatness. I know that the future to you currently is filled with a whole lot of expectations. I want to assure you that you can be whatever or whoever you want to be. Your dreams are valid and it is always a smart decision to hold on to your expectations. At some times in your life, it may appear as if things are tough and you can’t get past a challenge or problem, do not despair or worry. Great things take time but they eventually happen.

Dear R, you have to keep being good. Everyone in life becomes great and personally successful when they have good manners. Always Keep your imaginations active and healthy. This will help you have big dreams and a for the top.

My Son R, always learn to build things. I know how much you love inventions and inventors. I know that one day you dream of creating something great and amazing of your own. Keep working towards creating something great, all things are possible.
It will be a great honor to be the mother of an amazing inventor. Inventors are problem solvers. They always create a better and easier method to achieving a particular thing. I’ll be very proud of you when you eventually achieve this.

Dear son, it is also important to Know when to keep your mouth shut. This is a very valuable skill that can deliver you from lots of future problems. Some times talking too much or being too friendly can cause you a lot of problems.

Maybe not now, but in the future, you will realize how important and liberating it can be to keep your mouth shut in some situations. Many have lost their lives because of their words or because they trusted the wrong people. I will keep praying for you. So that you will always remember to be cautious and so that you will always be safe.

I know that you are a very amazing and lovable 10 year old. I know how much you love animals, keep being kind to animals and vulnerable people. There’s a wonderful blessing attached to this. When you show love to people, you receive it in multiple folds.

My dear son, it is important that you show people respect to people. Respecting people especially adults can be very rewarding. Even if you don’t really feel like showing respect or if you’re not getting it back, or if they’re not deserving, always try to show respect still. You’ll go very far and you’ll get to the top of you can give honour to whom honour is due.

Your word is your power and will,it is important you learn how to Keep to your words son. Do not lie, only say the truth. Do not try to impress others, and in the process lie. Always only say what you can do and what you will do. Being true to your words will take you to greater heights no matter how difficult it appears.

Being reliable is also important R. Being reliable makes us connected to our personality as individuals. Although, the gift of being reliable can be developed at the right time: these habits are valued by everyone.

As you grow older my son, always remember that it is important to
find a balance between work and play. Although you’re a boy, this advice is for now and in the future. Never get carried away with work such that you can no longer relax once in Remember the old adage, all work and no play makes Jack a dull boy.

You must also always be neat. Even if you play sports often. Cleanliness and neatness is an important factor in good health. It will also determine how comfortable people are around you.

It is also expedient that you learn how to cook, clean and exercise. Being a boy doesn’t stop you from being able to cook for yourself. Cooking is a life skill.

I will always give you a big hug to reassure you each day, whenever you are with me. Keep being good and hopeful. This will draw goodness and fulfilment to you.

I hope to fufill all of your requests for Christmas, and give you the best Christmas ever this year. Dear R, you can always count on me. I will be the best mum ever. Your dad and I love you so much and we care about you always.

With love from,

Your Mum.
